Believer – Scene 5i

“You should totally say something boring about their lives that normal people would say right now,” Cecil comments suddenly from over her shoulder.  “Then they’ll think you’re less crazy and might be your friends, because you need to get some of those.”

Cecile continues to stare into her wrap, watching the tortilla and lettuce spiral around like rose petals.  Her kindasorta-doppelganger’s voice blurs inside of her head, mixing with her own internal response of “Why do you keep thinking that I don’t have any friends?”

“Because you keep thinking that you don’t have any friends.”

“I have friends.  We went to college together, and stuff.”

“Two years ago, you don’t keep in touch, doesn’t count.”

“You’re a horrible friend.”

“And that’s why you need to make new ones.”
